Missy is coming home tonight – only for the weekend. But it is hard to believe it has been alomost two months since she started her retriever classes. The trainer says it looks like she has some good potential, we shall see. It will be good to see her again, I wonder how big she is now. She was 70 lbs at 6 months old. I will post pictures later.

May 26, 2006Well it is all just about done. The pool table was redone about 3 weeks ago and all the stuff is on the walls. I keep getting more and more NASCAR stuff so I am still moving things around from wall to wall to make it look nice.
The kids room is now painted light blue like they wanted. We put up dinosaur borders around the top of the room and put in a ceiling fan. We just put the old foam flooring down for now, later on we will carpet it.
The storage room got new shelving built last weekend, so now we are in the process of finding out what really needs to stay and what is going to the dump. What I need now is a weekend with nothing to do!

May 4, 2006Well it gets closer and closer to being done. The carpet was put in before I left for Talladega and I got some things put up. Tonight I put the pool table back together. We are still going to have it re-felted, but they want $150 to put it together so I just did it. I did put the felt back on and played a game on it tonight. It looks like it is pretty level already.
I got my old Navy stuff and the deer head up on the walls of the computer room last night before bed. It is finally starting to look like a home down here. I will be so glad when I get everything put away. At least there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Talladega Party
May 4, 2006What a blast the weekend was… They tell me I had a good time Friday night.
We left St Louis at 6AM and started the party before 8AM in the RV. We got to the campgrounds around 3PM and got all settled in before heading into Gypsy Row. I guess I should have either 1) eaten some more food or 2) drank less beer, because I have only some memory of the night.
Saturday the weather was beautiful, but a bit windy. We went and watched the end of the Nextel qualifying runs and then the Busch race. Watching the cars go around this track is beyond words. When they are racing and are doing close to 200MPH over the whole track less than a foot from the other cars is a thing of beauty. It was nice to see Truex Jr win the Busch race. We then partied away the night back on Gypsy Row.
Sunday looked like it was going to be a good day for the races. The forecast was for thunderstorms all Saturday night and then clearing Sunday morning. As it was, we got no rain all Saturday. We went to the track for the race and it started to get really cloudy. As soon as the cars took the track and made one lap behind the pace car it cut loose and rained. So they stopped the race before it started and ended up postponing it until Monday. It was a stupid decision as it really didn't rain again, at least not enough to stop the race. So we got more beer and went back to Gypsy Row. I ended up buying two diecast cars that night, one of Kasey Kahne's car from his first win and the other of Jeff Gordon's Bugs Bunny car. I also bought T-shirts for the boys and the wife.
Monday the weather was really nice and the race started on time at 11AM. It was a good race, even if Kasey did get taken out in the 15 car pile up on lap 9. I was hoping for anyone other then Jimmy Johnson to win the race… damn it.

We left the track at 3PM and got back into St Louis at 1:30AM, and back to my brothers at 2AM. After a quick shower and 3 1/2 hours sleep I drove back to Wichita. Man it was good to get home and sleep in my bed.
But … I can't wait until next year. And this time the wife will go too!
